The week, the city of Milan is bursting with beauty, colour, elegance – and the biggest fashion powerhouses around. Yes, Milan Fashion Week for SS24 opened on 19 September and will run through 25 September, with exclusive access for fashion industry insiders, VIPs, models, celebs, bloggers and journalists. So, how can you experience a piece of the action?

Live streaming of the fashion shows is available on the Milan Fashion Week website, and you can also catch up with many of the shows on YouTube. Here are our highlights from the shows that have already taken place…

Fendi

British fashion designer Kim Jones launched Milan Fashion Week with his collection for Fendi, inspired by classical Roman statues. Long robes, bare shoulders and fluid lines were a common theme on the catwalk, along with a sprinkling of confident colour combinations – bold yellow and orange, duck egg blue and chocolate brown. The show attracted stars like Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Demi Moore and Christina Ricci.

Roberto Cavalli

One of the most talked about shows so far is Roberto Cavalli’s tropical and lively collection, designed by Fausto Puglisi. Set against a backdrop of leafy ferns and a soundtrack of twittering birdsong, models sported vibrant pink and orange long sheer dresses and two pieces, feathery mini dresses and coats, plus plenty of fringe and crochet details.

Diesel

Billed by those on the ground as a techno rave, Diesel presented a range of distressed denim looks – think shredded dresses, sheer tank tops, bleached t-shirts, fringed oversized jeans, string mini dresses and utterly gorgeous denim boots. The intense music, heavy rainfall and the seemingly endless outdoor red-carpet runway gave the show a dramatic, edgy feel.

Simone Rocha

Simone Rocha delivered a supremely romantic show inspired by themes of love and marriage. The collection featured pearls, tulle and lace, enormous bows and stemmed roses sewn into dresses. One notable accessory was a tiny two-tier wedding cake handbag adorned with pearls – and then there was the collaboration with Crocs – comfortable and instantly recognisable slip-ons embellished with pearls and crystals.

Prada

Extra long sleeves, high cinched waists, vibrant footwear and gauzy dresses with wispy capes were among the Prada catwalk looks, which centred around movement and fluidity. Silver and gold fringed skirts and crisp collared shirts also made an appearance. The catwalk was divided by a wall of falling, translucent slime – in keeping with the fluid theme.

Etro

Etro is known for its vibrant, colourful and distinctive designs, and the SS24 collection didn’t disappoint. It featured a blend of bold, exotic paisley prints in retro colours, heavy brocade-like fabric, swishing fishtail skirts and skin-tight tops.
