Paris Haute Couture Week is one of the most eagerly awaited fashion shows in the world. It’s where top designers unveil their most exquisite and imaginative creations: custom-made garments that are painstakingly constructed by hand from start to finish.
This year’s event took place from 24 to 27 June, following Paris Fashion Week. We’ve highlighted five standout designers who caught our eye with unforgettable, spectacular collections. Read about them below!
Schiaparelli
Daniel Roseberry’s Schiaparelli autumn/winter 2024 collection drew inspiration from the phoenix and the concept of rebirth, and honoured Elsa Schiaparelli’s revolutionary spirit. Each piece showcased meticulous craftsmanship and heritage, from sculpted gowns and structured bustiers to feathered and dramatic organza spike adornments. The opener was an utterly captivating black velvet cape with phoenix-wing shaped shoulders. Browse all the looks.
Balenciaga
Balenciaga’s latest couture collection, from creative director Demna, blended streetwear, skater, goth and metalhead subcultures with mid-century haute couture. Everyday items like T-shirts were elevated into intriguing art forms, and unique headpieces were crafted from resin and carbon fibre. Butterfly masks, symbolising transformation and fleeting beauty, were a key accessory among the looks. The finale was an ephemeral black nylon dress constructed with 47 metres of nylon in a choreographed process backstage just before the show. Discover the collection.
Homolog
Emily Cheong’s brand, Homolog, is deeply unconventional, aiming to blend diverse global cultures, promote self-acceptance, and honour civilisations through its designs. The latest collection merged conservative and mysterious looks with a nod to feng shui and astrology. View it here.
Viktor&Rolf
Viktor&Rolf is known for its provocative haute couture and conceptual glamour. The autumn/winter 24/25 collection featured sculptural, geometric garments in contrasting colours and prints inspired by the brand’s famous 1998 Atomic Bomb show. The designs included 3D geometric shapes that interact with the body, like large panniers and oversized collars. Read this detailed review.
Cheney Chan
Cheney Chan presented ‘Dream in Bloom’, which reflected the brand’s unique essence, drawing inspiration from Chinese porcelain and the art of ancient pottery (shaping and refining). Celebrating flowers and butterflies, the collection embodied twelve characteristics: purity, courage, charm, resilience, endurance, passion, freedom, heroism, independence, clarity, responsibility, and authenticity.
