The National Portrait Gallery, in collaboration with the Duchess of Cambridge, have launched Hold Still: A Portrait of our Nation in 2020, a community project that aims to highlight the spirit, support, energy and feelings of the country as we cope with the Coronavirus outbreak.

Hold Still will capture a snapshot of the resilience, bravery, humour, sadness, creativity and kindness shown by the people of the UK by creating a collective portrait, comprised of portraits submitted by the general public. One hundred portraits will be shortlisted and featured in a virtual exhibition on the gallery's website, and a selection of these images will be shown across the UK later in the year.

Submit your entry for free of a portrait - taken in the UK - that corresponds to one of the following categories:

  • Helpers & Heroes
  • Your New Normal
  • Acts of Kindness

Open to adults and children alike, this is a wonderful opportunity for people to use creativity to celebrate the very best of humanity.

Deadline for submissions - 18th June 2020.
