A lot of creative people (for example writers, artists, designer-makers and more) put off creating a business plan because it seems scary or they are not sure how to approach the ‘business’ side of their creative work. But a business plan is not for the bank, it’s a strategy for you: a clear pathway to achieving your goals.

This workshop makes creating your business plan fun and easy. With lots of step by step interaction and exercises, you’ll come away with the first draft of your business plan as well as plenty of inspiration and information to work on for the future.

The workshop will include:

  • Clarifying your goals
  • Identifying what makes you and your work unique
  • Understanding the market around you: why it helps and how to do it
  • Fixing money blocks: making sure you are being paid for what you do!
  • Identifying multiple income streams including grants, merchandise, writing a book and more.
  • Creating a plan for improving your visibility (your ‘platform’)
  • Building up a positive entrepreneurial mindset: making the business side creative too!
  • Recommendations for next steps if you need to develop more business skills
  • Making and prioritising time: from first steps to going fulltime

All you need to bring along are your dreams/hopes/goals for your creative work and we will help you focus on how to make them a reality.

After the event you will receive a pack of slides covering the workshop including useful contact details for relevant organisations and experts, as well as Melissa Addey’s eBook, Merchandise for Authors (relevant to many creatives), which will help you develop a new income stream.

Feedback from previous attendees at Melissa Addey’s workshops:

Loved it – thank you. Very knowledgeable and experienced tutor, brilliant advice and tips.

Hard won gems of experience from someone who has actually done it. Practical, pragmatic and entertaining.

The best session I’ve been to at the British Library.

(We do not take cancellations but if you are unable to attend on the day you will still receive the slides and eBook by email after the workshop.)
