Angel Investors

These are high net worth individuals who invest in startup or very early stage businesses using their own personal funds, which allows them to accept more risk than investors using other people's money (see VENTURE CAPITAL). They normally invest from £10-100k, or in groups up to £1m, in sectors they know, bringing experience and contacts to contribute. They also get substantial tax incentives from the Government to invest in startups (SEIS) and small businesses (EIS).
