Fans, artists and industry guests flooded the O2 arena in London last night for the 42nd BRIT Awards Ceremony. As always, it was a spectacular show that celebrated the significant achievements of British and international artists over the past year. In case you missed it, here are five key moments you’ll want to know about.

1. Adele took centre stage

The extraordinary London-born artist Adele scooped three of the biggest awards on the night: Album of the Year award, Artist of the Year award and Song of the Year award (for ‘Easy on Me’). She also regaled us with a brilliant line during her acceptance speech, “I can’t believe that a piano ballad won up against that many bangers.” These latest wins take Adele’s tally to 12 BRIT trophies since she won the Rising Star award back in 2008.

2. Ed Sheeran rocked

Legendary singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran kicked off the show with a theatrical performance of ‘Bad Habits’ in a mashup with rock band ‘Bring Me The Horizon’. Although this collaboration was a somewhat unexpected pairing, it achieved the objective of being a jaw-dropping opener! Watch it right till the end for maximum screaming.

3. Olivia Rodrigo got her first BRIT

18-year-old Olivia Rodrigo won the International Song of the Year award for ‘Good 4 U’ (presented by none other than Courtney Cox). Olivia’s song was the biggest selling international single in the UK over the last 12 months. It’s only been a year since this young, talented artist performed her first single, ‘Driver’s License’ at the BRITs.

4. Anne-Marie showed what a star she is

There’s one at virtually every live show… Yes, Anne-Marie suffered an on-stage slip, but if you blinked, you might have missed it. The star recovered like lightning and soldiered on to deliver an incredible performance of her Little Mix collaboration, Kiss My (Uh Oh).

5. Dave gave a moving speech

British rapper Dave won the Best Hip Hop/Rap/Grime Act and delivered an epic, flame-filled performance of ‘In The Fire’ to close the show. He gave an inspirational acceptance speech where he thanked God, his fans, family, friends and all the rappers in his field that have suffered for years and have broken down so many barriers in the industry.
